Hublot Erotique final sketch
I break up the two components of Hublot Erotique, my practice-based research essay, in two parts: A) Research and B) Design.
My research addresses two portrayals of the vagina, the metaphorical and the literal, prevalent in media ranging from popular comedy skits to pornography.
I also discuss the “designer vagina” and surgical aesthetics that prioritize cultural interpretation over biological and sexual function.
My research also examines erotic portrayals of the vagina in art and jewelry from a feminist perspective.
In the second component, I reveal my process and development for the watch bracelet design and reflect on how my research findings can support my work as a feminist reclamation of erotic display.
